Accessibility Statement
Last updated: February 2026
1. Our Commitment
Learnify EduOS is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to guarantee we provide equal access to all users.
As a platform designed for students in the Global South, accessibility is central to our mission. We recognize that users access our platform on a wide variety of devices, network conditions, and assistive technologies.
2. Conformance Status
Learnify EduOS conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).
3. Accessibility Measures
We take the following measures to ensure accessibility:
- Full keyboard navigation support across all pages
- Screen reader compatibility with proper ARIA attributes and live regions
- Skip navigation links to bypass repetitive content
- Color contrast ratios meeting WCAG AA requirements (4.5:1 for text)
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy
- Visible focus indicators for all interactive elements
- Reduced motion support respecting user preferences
- High contrast and forced colors mode support
- Accessible form inputs with proper labels and error announcements
- Accessible emoji with text alternatives
- Automated accessibility testing with axe-core and pa11y
4. Keyboard Shortcuts
Press ? on any page to open the keyboard shortcuts dialog, which lists all available keyboard navigation shortcuts.
5. Compatible Assistive Technologies
Learnify EduOS is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) on Windows
- JAWS (Job Access With Speech) on Windows
- VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
- TalkBack on Android
- Orca on Linux
6. Low-Bandwidth & Device Support
Many of our users in the Global South access Learnify on low-bandwidth connections and older devices. We design with these constraints in mind:
- Lightweight page bundles optimized for slow connections
- Responsive layouts that work on mobile, tablet, and desktop
- Progressive enhancement — core functionality works without JavaScript where possible
- Dark mode to reduce battery usage on OLED screens
7. VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template)
A detailed VPAT 2.4 document is available upon request. It provides a comprehensive evaluation of our conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level A and Level AA success criteria.
8. Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, we are aware of the following areas where improvements are ongoing:
- AI tutor chat: Real-time message updates may not be immediately announced by all screen readers. We use ARIA live regions to mitigate this.
- Knowledge graph visualizations: Interactive graph diagrams provide text-based alternative descriptions, though the full interactive experience requires a pointer device.
- Third-party content: Uploaded curriculum documents (PDFs, DOCX) may not be fully accessible depending on how they were authored.
